What is Eurythmy?

Eurythmy is a new art, which through the movement of the body, as an instrument, tries to make the audible visible in space. This art was created in Germany in 1912 by the Austro-Hungarian philosopher Rudolf Steiner and the German actress Marie von Sievers. The creation of Eurythmy was born from the need to create an art that will work specifically to heal both the body and the soul of the Human Being. For this same reason this art is developed in three different areas: the artistic, the pedagogical and the healing.

Pedagogical Eurythmy is a subject typical of Waldorf schools, which accompanies children and young people throughout their entire career in school; that is, from pre-kindergarten to the last year of high school. Although it obeys the same laws as artistic eurythmy, what it seeks is that the child and young person, over time, during their stay at school, appropriates their body correctly, through this art. The correct appropriation of the body, not unilaterally, as most sports or body arts do, but in an integral way, which takes into account the different spheres where the Human Being develops, body, soul and spirit, seeks develop in a harmonious and balanced way the three mental qualities, which are thinking, feeling and acting. When this balance occurs, coherence is achieved between these qualities and this allows the Human Being to be able to perceive himself objectively and consciously and from there relate to others in a harmonious and loving way. This work helps the development of social relationships, as well as the development of group work, seeking that each individual can shine from their own aptitudes, virtues and attributions, without subjugating others or taking advantage of their disposition.

Fifteen creative, loyal, challenging, resilient, hard-working, supportive, hard-working, happy, enthusiastic young people; who have wanted to take this project and prepare for a presentation outside the country;  also work  together with parents, teachers and the school community, to obtain resources and make this idea a reality.

They will travel with them:  Adriana Echart, Eurythmy teacher, her tutor Roberto Spencer, and Elena Shitikova, pianist accompanist of the Eurythmy class.

The Giordano Bruno School is located in the commune of Peñalolen, in Santiago on a 2-hectare plot, in the eastern sector of Greater Santiago, in the commune of Peñalolén. Its natural environment is the pre-mountain range, at the foot of Mount San Ramón.

The main pillar of Waldorf Pedagogy - and of course of the Giordano Bruno School - is Anthroposophy and the conception of the human being and the world that emanates from it, conceiving the human being as an entity made up of a body, a soul and a spirit. , who must be able to become present on earth and develop the life that he has to live, displaying all the capabilities that he brings as a spiritual being.
